THE BENEFITS OF PILATES
A commitment to Pilates mat work will promote greater abdominal and pelvic stability, as well as improving movement and muscle control of and around the spine itself. Such control is requisite to both preventing spinal injury, and managing any pre-existing back or neck pain. Pilates exercises specifically aim to create muscle balance in the body, greater coordination of movement and control of the abdominals and breathing. These exercises encourage the use of the body as a whole unit, developing strong, lean musculature, rather than allowing individual muscle groups to develop isolated strength and to become out of balance. The philosophies behind the Pilates Method have been constant for many years, but it is only recently that people have begun to recognize its ‘tried and true’, more holistic approach to maintaining physical fitness.
My Pilates classes include a fusion of light weights, yoga, stretching, and core/abs strengthening which will increase flexibility, develop and correct your posture, prevent injuries, improve your core strength, firm up the abdominal muscles and prevents and heals lower back pain.
The human body is the most amazing instrument you will ever own, far more complex than any computer. You cannot trade it in or buy a new one; it is yours for life to maintain and enjoy! There are simple steps to take for those who are willing to increase overall body wellness. Increased strength, stability and flexibility will make your body last longer. My classes are designed to help you do just that.
